Knitting love for the tiniest tots

The dedication and thoughtfulness of skilled knitters saw adorable handmade jerseys for little ones, cosy blankets, and tiny beanies and booties for babies gifted to new mommies at Thelle Mogoerane Hospital in Vosloorus in honour of World Prematurity Day. More than just knitted items, these served as a symbol of solidarity and brought much comfort for new moms navigating unique challenges in their motherhood journey.

The Pad Princess project dropped off much needed sanitary pads and pantyliners for unprivileged girls at the school on 13 March.

Northcliff Primary School’s marketing and resource mobiliser Suzy Beaumont said noticed that there were a lot of learners in need at the school, whether be it food, stationary or school uniforms. She also noticed a problem with girls who came to the school’s sick room frequently, and she realised the big need for sanitary pads.

“I realised that there were learners at the schools who didn’t have pads or the only one they had is the one they are wearing for the day. I am a part of the charities group on Facebook and that’s when I saw Alyson [Samson] from the Pad Princess project, was giving away pads to girls and young woman in need. I got in contact with her and she gave us sanitary pads.”

Linden, Johannesburg – You know how confetti gets everywhere, stuck to everything and you seem to find it months after it was used? Well, that’s the perfect analogy for kindness. Kindness should be everywhere, stuck on every person and found long after it was dispensed. While actual confetti isn’t great for the environment, kindness is great for everyone and everything.

A group called ‘Kindness like Confetti’ (KLC), based in Linden Gauteng, spreads kindness far and wide! They recently launched their September project, which is to collect items for cancer brave bags.
