Kindness Like Confetti (KLC) have launched a campaign to help bring the end of period poverty to 500 young ladies in the Gauteng area.
Johannesburg, South Africa (06 May 2024) – Period poverty is rife in South Africa, where families have to choose between putting a meal on the table versus purchasing menstrual hygiene products. In these cases, food always wins and young ladies going through their regular cycles, have to make other plans or skip school. Kindness Like Confetti (KLC) is working to end period poverty for 500 young ladies this World Menstrual Hygiene Day.
The day was initiated in 2013 by a German-based organisation, WASH United, as a way to raise awareness for young women who had limited access to good hygienic options.
